Introducing FILA’s New Grip Line: Safer Surfaces for Every Setting

Most of us don’t notice a slippery floor until our feet do. Maybe it’s the shower tray, the garden patio, or the hallway on a wet morning, that sudden loss of grip always comes as a surprise. That’s why FILA has developed two new solutions designed to make surfaces safer without altering their appearance.

FILA has come up with two new ways to stop slips before they happen — PROGRIP and EASYGRIP. They’re designed for the kind of smooth floors most of us have somewhere at home, like porcelain, ceramic, or granite, adding a little extra grip that makes them safer to walk on without changing how they look.

They both do the same job, just in different ways. If you’re a professional handling big projects or heavy-use spaces, PROGRIP gives you the control and confidence to get the job done right. EASYGRIP is all about making life easier. It works perfectly for those smaller spots around the home or site that just need a little extra grip.

They combine FILA’s technical expertise with everyday common sense, helping anyone create safer surfaces at home or on site.

Why Slippery Surfaces Need a Smarter Fix

We love the polished look of porcelain and granite, but their smooth surface has a downside, once water’s involved, things get slippery fast. From pool areas to bathroom floors, it’s a common problem that calls for a smarter, longer-lasting solution.

Until recently, solving the problem of slippery tiles meant settling for a visible fix, a coating here, a rough finish there, that always came with a compromise. FILA’s Grip Line takes a gentler path. It works on the surface, reshaping it ever so slightly to increase grip while keeping its original beauty untouched.

PROGRIP: Professional Strength, Proven Results

Built for professionals, PROGRIP was created to take the worry out of slick floors. It keeps busy spaces safe without changing how they look or feel. When it goes on, it quietly reacts with the surface, giving it a bit of hidden texture, not something you can see, but something you’ll notice underfoot when the floor’s damp.

You’ll really see what PROGRIP can do in those stubborn spots that always seem to stay damp, the patio that never quite dries after rain, the steps that stay slick, or the pool edge you tread carefully around. Once it’s been applied, there’s no visible change at all. The surface looks just the same as before, but the moment you walk on it, you can feel the difference, steady, secure, and sure underfoot.

The Places That Need It The Most
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Granite and siliceous stones

Typical Applications
  • Poolside areas
  • Outdoor ramps, stairs and pathways
  • Busy public entrances
  • Spa and wellness areas

How It Works

This trade-grade formula is a ready-to-use, quick-acting liquid treatment. Before application, the surface should be cleaned thoroughly using the appropriate FILA cleaner (such as DETERDEK PRO for porcelain tiles for limescale or cement residues or PS87 PRO for unpolished natural stone for organic dirt or a film caused by improper maintenance). A test patch is always recommended, as different materials react slightly differently.

The product begins reacting within one minute of contact, so even large areas can be treated quickly. For correct application, work in smaller sections of around 1 to 3 square metres, using the joints as a guide to keep each area even. A single litre covers roughly 8 to 10 square metres, making it ideal for larger or high-traffic areas. Once applied evenly, it’s rinsed and neutralised using a diluted neutral detergent like CLEANER PRO. The result is a slip-resistant surface that looks exactly as it did before treatment but performs far better underfoot.

For professionals, that mix of speed and precision really matters. It keeps downtime to a minimum, preserves the look of the surface, and gives you confidence that safety standards are met.

EASYGRIP: DIY-Friendly Safety for Smaller Spaces

Not every slippery surface needs an industrial solution. Sometimes it’s the small details that make the biggest difference, a shower tray, a tiled doorway, or the floor around an outdoor tap. That’s where EASYGRIP comes in.

Designed for DIY users and smaller trade applications, this treatment works in much the same way as PROGRIP but with a gentler formulation that’s easier to handle and apply. It’s perfect for homeowners who want to improve safety in specific spots where water collects or where people often walk barefoot.

Where to Use It
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Granite

Typical Applications
  • Porcelain or ceramic shower trays
  • Doorways, boot rooms and hallways
  • All household floors

How It Works

This DIY-friendly formula is ready to use straight from the bottle. Always test it first on a small, hidden area and protect any nearby surfaces before you start. Clean the area thoroughly, then apply an even coat with a brush, adding more product if necessary to prevent the surface from drying out. Leave it to react for around ten minutes, then remove any residue and rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Each 500 mL bottle treats up to 3 m², making it ideal for targeted applications like entrances, bathrooms, or wet-room areas. Because it’s water-based, it doesn’t leave a layer sitting on top. As soon as you rinse it off, the surface is ready to go, clean, dry, and safe.

Tried, Tested, and Trusted

Behind every FILA innovation lies extensive testing. The Grip Line has been evaluated on more than 40 materials, including both porcelain and natural stones, under real-world conditions.

Slip resistance was measured according to the UK and European standard UNI EN 16165, which uses a pendulum test to determine the friction level of walkable surfaces. Results showed a significant improvement in slip resistance after treatment, confirming that both products deliver reliable and measurable safety gains.

It’s worth noting that these treatments are not suitable for polished or lappato porcelain tiles, as their surface structure prevents a consistent increase in friction. For best results, always test on an uninstalled or hidden area before proceeding with full application.

The Importance of Testing and Application

Every surface is different, which is why testing before treatment is one of FILA’s golden rules. The microscopic abrasion that gives these products their grip-enhancing power must be carefully timed and evenly applied to avoid over-treatment or colour changes.

For professionals using the higher-strength option, this means running a quick one-minute test to determine the correct contact time. For DIY users working with the Grip Line’s lighter solution, a 10-minute test area ensures that the surface reacts as expected before continuing.

Both products require clean surfaces and consistent coverage. Once the treatment is complete, a final rinse with a neutral detergent ensures all residues are removed, leaving the surface ready for use.

With proper maintenance, the anti-slip effect remains permanent, making these treatments a one-time investment in long-term safety.

Why Two Products?

Both treatments are built on the same idea, giving floors better grip without changing how they look, but they’ve been designed for different kinds of users. PROGRIP is made for the professionals, the ones tackling big spaces where precision and timing really matter. EASYGRIP, on the other hand, brings that same technology ideal for smaller jobs or quick fixes around the home.

At their core, they both reflect what FILA has always stood for: reliable performance, clever innovation, and a real respect for the natural beauty of every surface.

Surfaces that Stay Safe and Beautiful

The launch of the FILA Grip Line reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to creating safer, more durable environments without compromising aesthetics. Whether you’re a contractor preparing a new swimming pool, a facilities manager responsible for a public walkway, or a homeowner tired of slippery shower tiles, these innovative new products provide a reliable way to make those surfaces safer for everyone. Invisible. Effective. Permanent. That’s the FILA way.
