As hard surface flooring continues to grow in both residential and commercial spaces, FILA’s Grip Line was developed to help improve traction without visibly changing the appearance of the surface.
PROGR1P is designed for larger residential and commercial applications, while EASYGR1P is intended for smaller, targeted residential areas such as shower pans and bathroom floors.
Before full application, testing should always be carried out to determine compatibility, contact time, and the level of slip resistance achieved on the surface.
Why Is Testing Important?
There are three main reasons to perform a test before full application:
- To confirm the product is compatible with the surface
- To ensure the result provides the desired level of slip resistance
- To determine the correct contact time needed to achieve the desired grip or DCOF level
Because the treatment reacts directly with the surface itself and cannot be reversed once applied, testing should always be carried out before treating the entire area.
Where Should the Test Be Performed?
Run the test on:
- A clean, uninstalled sample tile, or, if it’s not available,
- A small inconspicuous area of the installed surface
TESTING BEFORE FULL APPLICATION IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Step-by-Step Testing Guide
Step 1: Prepare the Surface
Make sure the area is completely clean and dry before testing begins.
Step 2: Apply the Product
Apply the Grip Line products using either:
- A lambswool applicator
- A brush
- Or a white pad
- For PROGR1P, begin with a 1-minute test
- For EASYGR1P, begin with a 10-minute test
In both cases, ensure the surface remains wet throughout the process, adding more product if necessary.
Step 3: Remove Residue
Clean the area using a wet vac, or remove residue with a mop or cloth.
Step 4: Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water.
Step 5: Neutralize the Surface
Neutralize the treated area using CLEANER PRO.
Evaluating the Results
Once the test area is dry, evaluate the level of grip achieved. If additional slip resistance is required:
- For PROGR1P, testing may be repeated in 1-minute intervals.
- For EASYGR1P, testing should be repeated in additional 10-minute intervals.
Take note of the final contact time achieved during testing, then follow the full application instructions provided in the product’s technical data sheets when treating the complete surface:
When applied correctly, there is no significant visible change to the surface, but the improvement in grip becomes noticeable when water is present, which is when it matters the most.
