When it comes to rust stains, most people assume they are permanent or difficult to remove without damaging what’s underneath. In reality, the right product makes all the difference, especially when working across larger areas or more delicate materials. That is exactly where the latest update from FILA Solutions comes in.
Alongside the well-known NORUST 75ml format, FILA has introduced NORUSTXL, now available in 1L and 5L sizes. It brings the same trusted effectiveness as with the original, now designed to handle larger areas more efficiently.
Built for Larger, Demanding Surfaces
NORUSTXL is designed to remove rust deposits quickly while also helping reduce the risk of it forming again in iron-rich environments. It is especially effective on large areas heavily affected by staining.
One of its main advantages is its non-acidic formulation. This allows it to be used safely on delicate materials such as polished marble, where harsher products could cause damage. At the same time, it remains highly versatile, suitable for granite, stone agglomerates, porcelain, ceramic, terracotta, concrete, as well as metal, glass, and painted finishes.

Fast, Visible Results
Performance-wise, it is quick and easy to use. The product reacts in around 15 minutes, turning a deep purple colour as it works. This visible change shows exactly where it has been applied and when the process is complete.
Simple, Controlled Application
The application is simple and controlled. The gel-like consistency adheres well to vertical areas, enabling even coverage without runoff. Whether applied with a brush or a fleece pad, it delivers a consistent, professional result.
Once the reaction is complete, the residue should be removed and rinsed thoroughly with clean water before leaving to dry. If the area has previously been treated with wax, that layer may need restoring after use. In some cases, a slight purplish mark may remain, which can be resolved with thorough rinsing. The product also has a noticeable aroma, which should be considered when working in enclosed spaces.
Where NORUSTXL Makes the Biggest Difference
In practice, staining is rarely isolated. It often appears across wider sections where water, metal elements, and natural materials interact over time. Outdoor paving, terraces, stone walkways, and areas around metal fixtures are common examples, where iron deposits can build up and spread.
This is where a larger format, such as NORUSTXL, comes into its own. Instead of working in small sections or constantly reaching for another bottle mid-application, it permits a more consistent approach across the whole area. This not only saves time but also helps ensure an even result, cutting the risk of patchiness.
It also proves useful on mixed-material projects, where different finishes sit side by side. Having a single product that can be used confidently across multiple materials simplifies the process and reduces the requirement for multiple treatments.

A Smarter Format for Larger Areas
Overall, NORUSTXL is a practical extension of an already proven solution. It delivers the same performance, now with the coverage and usability needed for larger, heavily affected areas. A series of six images below shows the process step by step, from initial staining through to complete removal.
