An interesting restoration job was recently completed, returning to its original splendour the church of San Benedetto in Mugnano, in the province of Perugia, badly damaged by the terrible earthquake that struck Umbria in 2009. The company PULIUMBRIA used FILA products to clean and repolish the Red Verona Marble floors with Travertine inlay details.
The church of San Benedetto was erected in 1584 at the abbey of the Benedictine Monks, built in around the tenth century. This little church has been extended and restored many times over the years. For the 2000 Jubilee Celebrations, intensive modernisation was carried out on the building, involving its wiring and plumbing, together with restoration work that brought to light the original appearance of the vaults. However, the earthquake in 2009 unfortunately damaged the church so badly it could not be used, calling for consolidation of the vaults, a job completed in 2013.
After the structural work was finished, the floor was cleaned with FILAPS87 degreasing detergent to eliminate all the residues of plaster, greasy stains and building site dirt that covered the surface. Once clean and dry, FILAKRISTALL PLUS was applied, the new professional crystallizer specific for restoring damaged surfaces in marble or natural stone. This restored the original shine of this prestigious material.
