How to Remove Rust and Sulphate Stains from Natural Stone Paving

DeterdekNatural stone paving is ideal for application outdoors.  Sometimes, atmospheric agents can lead to rust or sulphate stains. It’s important to know how to remove these stains, without damaging the surface.

To clean natural stone paving, Fila has developed DETERDEK PRO – a specialised descaling cleaning agent which is able to remove residual rust or sulphate stains from natural stone paving.  (Deterdek Pro contains surfactants, so it can descale and clean.)

We do not recommend using DETERDEK PRO on polished marble or limestone surfaces.

DETERDEK PRO cleans without altering the stone’s appearance and it does not generate fumes which are harmful to people or the environment.

To remove rust stains, wet the area to be treated with water. Next, pour a little DETERDEK PRO onto a green scouring pad and gently rub the area.  Then, rinse the treated surface thoroughly.

  1. Hi There,I have recently had the grey Indian sandstone slabs laid and there are orange marks appearing here and there, also the grout that was used inbetween the slabs has become loose and there are large gaps where it seems to have dropped into the ground making it look so unfinished, any ideas would be so helpful.

Metal scaffold was left on the flagstones and has caused deep rust marks. The flags are light grey.
